Irishtown Signage Unveiling – Tuesday November 13th 11:am

Be a part of history with the unveiling of the new interpretative panel describing Halifax’s Historic Irishtown. The panel is located close to the north end side of Bishop’s Landing on Lower Water Street. The interpretative panel was coordinated with “cultural district” street signage denoting on the blades “Historic Irishtown” on several street corners in the vicinity.

The panel and the street signage were initiated by An Cumann. The idea of physically identifying Historic Irishtown with signage has finally seen the light of day after many years of dedicated efforts, most notably by our outgoing board member, Mr. Tony O’Carroll. Thanks to the collaboration and support of the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), for the first time the historic centre of Halifax’s Irishtown will be identified for current and future generations.
